I'm not complaining I love to see the snow, The only thing I don't like is the part when it starts to melt and then we get the big freeze that i do not like ,driving can be very challenging and the vehicle i drive at work couldn't be any worse the long wheel base makes it prone to slide at the rear end as i found out once in south wales when i just managed to get half way up a hill going into a industrial estate the van started to slide sideways i managed to correct it but it kept sliding down hill and with cars parked both sides of me it was a bit worrying, hey i got to the bottom ok and yes i did manage to deliver to that place with no accidents .
I have just got the car out to take my Sheila to work we have about four or five inches of snow on the ground looks nice and at least when it snows it is a little warmer as it was minus four last night it is only minus two at the moment at 08 30 i think it will thaw out soon as the sun will come out and then it will freeze tonight with bad roads to follow.
I went to Birmingham yesterday at 05 30 and i had a good drive no hold ups but you could see the ice and in some parts the fast lane was closed because of the ice but no probs the only probs i had was three part on the way back the traffic built up because we hit a wall;l of fog mist from the cold it looked very strange as we passed that we got into a very heavy snowfall and as you couldn't see very well ahead everyone was going quite slow for a while and a couple of miles later the snow had gone and the sun was shining weird or what.
I listened to the radio on Monday i think it was a professor from Manchester university was talking about the weather he recons we have a small ice age for the nexed twenty years in Europe the winters are going to be very cold he said this was due to a black spot on the sun not sure as to what caused that but he has been looking into this for many years and seems to be a clever guy on this subject he was explaining the same thing happened when we had the ice age this one however is on a very small scale but the same cause i think he said we can expect this every two thousand years and yes we are lucky to be around on the two thousand year anniversary just my luck,a little frightening really i wonder when the nexed big freeze will happen does he know i wonder he said this will only affect Europe but other countries will still have worse weather not only cold but very hot weather due to the ozone layer so we can expect hot weather in the simmer and cold in the winter sounds right to me but both will be very exaggerated he said. and who am i to argue with a professor in Manchester university.
Well I'm going out now to take a few snaps while my hometown has the snow on the floor as i think it looks very nice so when i have the pictures i will add to the blog and then publish it and then it is back to my
Bygone Days of Steam page as I have looked up a little more technical things to add to it so i may as well put this on before i forget where i have put it ,yes i soon forget things just lately a part of the age process i guess .
so I hope you like my home town in the snow and enjoy my Homepage On Bygone Days of Steam
so until nexed time
Adios
Great video Mike!! We have snow cold and ice here too and I don't like it one sing bit. LOL
ReplyDeleteHey, Mike! Really enjoyed the vid. Oddly enough, just before I found your comment on my blog page I was reading a news article online about the UK having the coldest winter in recorded history. I was out with the dog a little while ago and the 6 inch snow pack in our yard is capped with about 1/2" of ice so I can relate. Bundle up, layered clothing is the best way to stay warm and fleece is very popular here. A very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you and yours from me and mine!
ReplyDeleteNo snow here but we're sure getting a lot of rain.
ReplyDeleteMike, I hope you and your family have a Wonderful Christmas :-)
God Bless You, ~Ron
